Region: Heraklion
If you leave Crete without visiting its western side, you haven’t truly discovered the island.
This journey takes you through some of the most beautiful corners of Western Crete. First, we visit charming Chania, where narrow streets, Venetian architecture and colorful buildings create one of the most atmospheric cities on the island. You’ll have around 2 hours of free time to explore the old harbor, admire the famous lighthouse and enjoy the city’s unique atmosphere while learning more about its fascinating history.
Next, we continue to Rethymno, a city full of character with its beautiful promenade, charming alleys and impressive Fortezza fortress. Rethymno feels completely different from Heraklion — slower, greener and wonderfully romantic.
The final stop is Lake Kournas, the only natural freshwater lake in Crete. Here you can relax by the water, rent a pedal boat, spot turtles, ducks and crabs, swim or simply enjoy the peaceful scenery.
“From the middle of the lake, surrounded by mountains and nature, you’ll experience one of the most unforgettable views of Crete.”
