Crete is a true find for lovers of history, culture and natural beauty. The delight this island inspires is hard to put into words — you want to return again and again for new impressions.
On this journey we’ll gather the pearls of western Crete — the Akrotiri peninsula and its surroundings. It will be a rich and inspiring day, full of beauty, history and the island’s flavours.
Journey programme
Our morning will begin with a visit to the Monastery of the Holy Trinity (Agia Triada) — one of the most beautiful and revered on Crete. Surrounded by centuries-old olive groves, this monastery impresses with its architecture and peaceful atmosphere. We’ll also stop at the wine and olive oil museum. Here you’ll learn about traditional Cretan techniques and taste the local wine and oil — an integral part of the island’s culture.
Then — onward to Chania, one of the most picturesque towns in Crete. The old Venetian harbour, narrow streets, the scents of spices and the sea… every corner here breathes history. You’ll have about 3 hours of free time — to stroll, sit at a café by the water, browse craft shops, or simply soak up the atmosphere.
The next stop is Lake Kournas, Crete’s only natural freshwater lake. Here you can swim in clear water, ride a pedal boat, and relax on the shore with a stunning view of the White Mountains. Lunch, optional, at one of the cosy waterside taverns serving traditional Cretan cuisine.
