Mysteries of Mirabello Bay. Agios Nikolaos — Private Tour for Larger Groups

We came up with and organised an amazing route. This isn’t just a new excursion — it’s a journey “through our eyes”, the eyes of people who love Crete, have lived on the island for many years, and want to show you “another” Crete, beyond the classic tourist route. For years, only those closest to us — friends and family — got to appreciate this beauty, since we only revealed this route to the “chosen few,” keeping our favourite spots secret. Now we invite you — as our most welcome guests — on this journey.

How will our discovery unfold?

We’ll head to eastern Crete, to Mirabello Bay — a place of magnificent scenery and deep historical spirit.

Our first stop is one of the oldest monasteries in Crete, built in the 16th century. We’ll have it to ourselves. The abbess will personally open the church for us, and you’ll be transported back several centuries.

Next, our route leads into the mountains, to a hidden village where tourists are rarely seen. Here you can stroll at leisure and observe everyday Cretan life. Along the way, we’ll be sure to stop at a traditional coffee house — to try real Greek coffee or mountain herbal tea.

Then, along a scenic mountain road, we’ll descend to Mirabello Bay itself. This bay, with its turquoise waters, mountains, and a view of the mysterious island of Spinalonga, is a truly breathtaking sight. We’ll definitely stop for a photo session — there will be plenty of gorgeous shots!

The next stop is the fishing village of Plaka. Here time seems to slow down… fishermen mend their nets, the sea murmurs on the shore, and the taverns serve freshly caught seafood. You’ll have free time to swim in the sea and enjoy lunch right by the water.

The excursion ends in the beautiful town of Agios Nikolaos, often called the “Cretan Saint-Tropez.” Cosy streets, architecture, staircases that seem to climb into the sky, and of course freshwater Lake Voulismeni, connected to the sea, create an atmosphere of warmth and inspiration. You can admire the panorama of the town from a viewpoint or spend time at a café on the rock with a view of the lake and sea.

Paid separately: If you’re travelling with children, we’ll happily stop at Amazonas Park Crete zoo, where you can feed lemurs — an unforgettable experience for both kids and adults. The zoo is also home to over 100 species of parrots. Amazonas Park Crete entrance: adult — €10, child — €6
