But there is still the opportunity to take a sightseeing tour of Crete. On this trip, we will visit two regions of the island at once: the eastern (Heraklion) and the western (Rethymno). Moving from the capital of Crete to the south, we cross the island, leaving the Cretan Sea for the Libyan. Our path leads us to the Gorge of the Winds – Curtagletico, where we can see the eagles flying out to hunt.

We will make a photo stop at one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Crete. You will see the famous Preveli palm forest against the backdrop of mountains and the turquoise sea.

We will definitely make a stop at the Holy Stavropegic Patriarchal Monastery of Preveli. The miraculous holy cross in the monastery, a gift from the abbot of Preveli Ephraim (from 1769 to 1803), contains at its base most of the Cross of the Lord and, according to legend, was brought from Constantinople. For centuries, he has protected the monastery and its novices. Countless healings from various ailments and miraculous stories are associated with the Holy Cross in Preveli.

Today’s journey will take us to Damnoni Beach, where we will have the rare opportunity to visit the Libyan Sea.We can bet that you will not find this color of sea in Crete everywhere! Swimming will take place here.
